How hourly hire works

Within boat hire in Fuengirola, hiring by the hour is the shortest option: one, two or three hours; for longer, the half day is the option that fits. It suits anyone who wants to see the coast from the water without giving up the whole day, because you are back in time to have lunch ashore or carry on with other plans.

Fuel is included in every hourly rate, whether you go with a skipper or take the boat out yourself, so the price we give you is the price you pay and there is no fuel bill when you come back. Rates are not published on the website: you can ask for them by calling 669 06 27 56 or by leaving your number in the form, and we will call you back.

You can go out with a skipper, with no licence needed at all, or take the 4-metre boat out yourself if you hold at least the Spanish navigation licence. Either way, a lifejacket for each person on board, safety equipment checked before every trip and the boat’s insurance are all included.

  • Fuel included in every hourly rate.
  • If the forecast does not allow a safe trip, the date is changed at no cost.

What can you do with boat hire by the hour in Fuengirola?

Boat hire by the hour in Fuengirola covers trips of one, two or three hours with fuel included. With two hours, the usual reference for anyone who wants a swim, you can head east towards Benalmádena or west towards the Calahonda area, anchor once and return to the Puerto Deportivo de Fuengirola. The exact route is decided on the day, depending on where the wind is coming from.

One hour is enough for a run along the coast and little more, because a good part of the time goes on leaving the harbour mouth and coming back. Three hours leave room to stay longer at anchor or split it into two short stops. If the plan includes a relaxed lunch on board, the length that fits is the half day.

With a skipper or taking the boat out yourself?

If nobody in the group holds a licence, the trip is done with a skipper. Since 1 October 2026 every hired motor boat requires the person at the helm to hold a licence, whatever its size, and the skipper takes care of that: he steers, chooses where to anchor according to the wind at the time and handles the manoeuvre back to the berth.

With the Spanish navigation licence you can take out the 4-metre boat yourself, which is hired by the hour. That licence covers daylight sailing up to 2 miles from the coast, so it fits well with a short trip close to shore. Before casting off we give you about ten minutes of explanation: starting up, steering, anchoring, mooring, where the equipment is and how to call for help. The original licence must be shown.

What does the hourly rate include and what does it not?

It includes fuel, a lifejacket for each person on board, safety equipment checked before every trip and the boat’s insurance. If you go out with a skipper, his work is included too. That makes the short trip the easiest one to budget for: you know the cost before you board and there is no tank to refill when you get back.

If you take the boat out yourself, you leave a deposit that is returned in full when you hand the boat back in the same condition. Food and drink are up to you; for two hours, water and something to nibble in a small cool box is enough, with no glass at all on board.

Which boats can be hired by the hour?

The base is the Puerto Deportivo de Fuengirola, home to the 4-metre boat and motor boats with a skipper. The skippered fleet ranges from 8.1 to 15.2 metres and carries 7 to 12 passengers depending on the boat, not counting the skipper; the boarding marina for each boat is confirmed when you book. For a celebration there is also a one-hour party format for up to 12 people, with music from your phone and no glass.

Outside Fuengirola, the 11.5-metre catamaran moored in Marbella marina can also be hired by the hour, for groups of up to 12 people, and you get in and out of the water from the stern platform. The dolphin trip with a skipper also leaves from Fuengirola and lasts one to two hours, although sightings are never guaranteed.

What time of day suits a short trip?

First thing in the morning the sea is usually flatter and there is less traffic at the harbour mouth. From midday the thermal breeze comes in, the westerly wind raises a chop in the afternoon and the easterly brings in swell. Checking the sea forecast the day before helps you pick your slot: the home page of the website shows wind, waves and water temperature, updated every 30 minutes.

The afternoon also works for a two-hour trip, with low light over the coast. Anyone taking the boat out on their own navigation licence must be back in daylight, so in autumn and winter, when it gets dark earlier, it is worth booking the slot with time to spare.

What should you bring on a two-hour trip?

Not much: swimsuit already on, towel, cap, water, shoes that do not mark the deck and sun cream, which at sea is best reapplied every two hours. A canvas bag is better than a hard suitcase, which gets in the way on a small boat and has nowhere to be stowed.

Whoever signs the hire needs their ID card or passport, and whoever takes the helm needs their original licence. If children are coming, tell us their lifejacket sizes when you book; on board they sit in the cockpit, never on the bow. And whoever is steering does not drink alcohol.

Frequently asked questions

If it is not here, call us: two minutes on the phone and it is sorted.

What is the shortest trip?

One hour, which is enough for a run along the coast from the Puerto Deportivo de Fuengirola. To anchor and swim at a relaxed pace, the reference length is two hours.

Is fuel charged separately?

No. Fuel is included in the hourly rates, with or without a skipper. Only if you take the boat out yourself for a half or full day do you leave with a full tank and pay for what you used.

Can I go out by the hour without a licence?

Yes, with a skipper. To take out the 4-metre boat yourself you need at least the Spanish navigation licence: since 1 October 2026 every hired motor boat requires a licence from whoever is at the helm.

How far ahead should I book?

In July and August, several days ahead. From October to May there is usually space from one day to the next. You can book by phone or by leaving your number in the form.
