How the price is worked out

Boat rental prices depend on four things: the boat, how long you go out for, the season, and whether it comes with a skipper or you take it yourself. That is why the same small boat does not cost the same on a Tuesday in May as on a Saturday in August.

Duration is what matters most. Hiring by the hour costs more per hour but includes the fuel; half days and full days work out cheaper per hour, and there the fuel is paid separately because it depends on how far you go. It is topped up when you bring the boat back and you pay for what was used.

With the activities it works the other way round: the more people go, the cheaper it is each. Parasailing, the banana and the donut are booked per trip, not per passenger, so the real cost is the boat and the instructor. With a group of six or more the difference is considerable.

On crewed boats — yachts and the large catamarans — the price is closed with a written quote before booking. The crew is included; fuel, catering and berthing in other marinas are worked out according to the route you plan.

What never changes: a life jacket for every person on board is in the price, and if the forecast does not suit, the date is changed at no charge.

  • By the hour, fuel is included; by the half day and full day, separate.
  • Life jacket always included. Date changed at no charge if the weather stops you.

Why is the hourly price higher?

Because the fixed cost of a trip — preparing the boat, the manoeuvre out and back in, the check-over on return — is spread across fewer hours. A two-hour trip takes almost the same work in the marina as an eight-hour one.

That is why half days and full days work out far better per hour on the water. And it is why fuel is included in the hourly rates: consumption on a short trip is predictable.

How does the fuel work?

On the hourly rates it is included and you do not have to think about it. On half days and full days the boat is handed over with a full tank and topped up on return, paying only for what was used.

Consumption depends on the miles, not the hours: a boat at anchor uses nothing. A relaxed day with two long stops can use half of what half a day going from place to place uses. This is explained before you leave so that nobody gets a surprise on the way back.

What is the deposit and when do I get it back?

On boats hired without a skipper you leave a deposit when you collect the boat. It covers damage, lost equipment or a late return.

It comes back in full when the boat is handed over in the state it left in. It is not a charge: it is a deposit, and the boat is checked in front of the customer before it is released.

Why are the activities cheaper as a group?

Because the real cost of a parasail, a banana or a donut is the boat and the instructor, not the passenger on top. Filling the trip costs barely more than running it for one person.

That is why the per-person rates come down in bands according to how many are taking part, and from six upwards the difference is noticeable. On the banana and the donut it goes straight to a group price.

What is always included, whatever happens?

A life jacket for every person on board, the compulsory safety kit checked, and the boat's insurance. That is not an extra on any of our rates.

And one guarantee worth having in writing: if the forecast makes it impossible to go out, the date is changed at no charge. We do not charge for a trip that could not be done properly.

Do prices change with the season?

Yes, as they do across the whole tourism business on this coast. July and August are high season; June and September, mid; October to May, low. The difference between high and low is significant on the boats and smaller on the activities.

June and September are the sweet spot almost nobody makes use of: mid-season prices, the same weather as August, a flatter sea in the morning and coves without a queue of boats. For anyone who can choose their dates, that is where the value is.

Prices are confirmed when you book, depending on the boat, the season and how long you go out for. Call us and we will tell you on the spot.

Frequently asked questions

If it is not here, call us: two minutes on the phone and it is sorted.

Why are the prices not shown on the site?

Because they depend on the boat, the season and the duration, and an out-of-date figure misleads more than it helps. Call us and we will tell you the exact price on the spot.

Is fuel included?

On the hourly rates, yes. On half days and full days it is not, because consumption depends on how far you go: it is topped up when you bring the boat back and you pay for what was used.

Is it cheaper as a group?

On the activities, yes, and considerably: parasailing, the banana and the donut are booked per trip, not per person, so the cost is shared.

Do I have to leave a deposit?

On boats hired without a skipper, yes. It comes back in full when the boat is returned in the same state.
