These are the activities that ask nothing of you: you get on board and the skipper does the rest. They work well with children and with groups that do not get on with the sea.
Parasailing is the eye-catching one: twelve minutes in the air towed behind the boat, on your own or as a group. The banana and the donut are the opposite — they skim the surface and everyone ends up soaked — and they are the cheapest thing on this site.
Dolphin watching and celebration trips on board are booked per person. Dolphins are not guaranteed: they are wild animals and on some days they do not turn up, so it is worth knowing before you book.
Parasailing, and that surprises a lot of people. You take off and land from the boat's own platform without touching the water, so you do not need to be able to swim and there is no awkward moment. You can go up as a pair, or three at a time under the same parachute.
Dolphin watching is the other one: babies from 0 to 4 go free and the trip is on a boat, with no physical effort at all.
Twelve minutes in the air, at somewhere between thirty and fifty metres depending on the wind. From up there you see the whole coast, from Fuengirola across to Mijas, and it is the quiet that people mention most: the engine noise stays below.
You take off from the stern while the boat accelerates, and land the same way in reverse, with the line brought in slowly. It depends on the wind: in a strong easterly nobody flies, and in that case the date is changed.
The position and the number of people. On the banana you sit astride in a line, four to six of you, holding on to handles. On the donut you sit or lie down, one or two of you, and the tow makes it spin.
Both skim the surface and both end with everyone in the water, which is exactly the point. They are booked by the group rather than per person, which makes them the cheapest thing on this site.
There are bottlenose dolphins off this coast all year round, and in summer it is common to see them in groups of ten or fifteen. But they are wild animals: there are days they do not turn up, and that cannot be promised.
The trip lasts one to two hours, whatever it takes to find them. The rules require keeping your distance and not chasing them: you throttle back and wait for them to come to you, which is also when you see them best and when they come to play in the bow wave.
The usual format is a one-hour trip for a maximum of twelve people. It works for hen and stag dos, birthdays, or simply getting the group together somewhere that is not another terrace.
For bigger groups it moves to a catamaran, which takes up to a hundred passengers, and there you need to book weeks ahead and arrange the catering separately. You can bring food and drink, and you can play music while respecting the marina's hours. The only thing that does not come on board is glass.
With small children: dolphin watching and parasailing. Both are done with no physical effort, without touching the water unless you want to, and without needing to swim.
With teenagers and young groups: banana and donut, which are the ones that end with everyone in the water. With mixed or company groups: a boat party or a catamaran, where each person chooses whether to swim or stay on deck.
